Our house system is one of the main reward systems at Abbey Primary School. 

As soon as the children begin Foundation 2, they are allocated to a house - the same house as any siblings that already attend the school:

Earth  Air  Fire Water

All children at Abbey can earn house points for making a positive contribution to school life; for kindness, good manners, excellent work, homework, attendance at extra curricular events and for  being a good role model in all aspects of school life.

We have many inter-house events such as the sportshall athletics competition, bake-offs, sports day, reading challenges, curriculum quizzes, cross country events and swimming galas, just to name a few!

We are proud of our striking House banners because WE made them! We worked with artists Usha Mahenthiralinga and  Shamila Chady to capture a visual representation of our Houses. These images are displayed proudly inside our school building and also feature on our huge, tiled wall murals outside. We also have House flags that fly outside when we have sporting events taking place.

The house banners took a long time to create but were excellent fun and we engaged in a creative process throughout the designing and making stages, exploring and experimenting with a range of ideas to begin with.
