World Book Day

World Book Day- Creating bridges out of different materials to see which material would be the strongest for 'The Three Billy Goats'

World Book Day- Using drama to retell our traditional tale 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff'

Science- We investigated signs of habitats in our local area

PE- We have been working on our throwing and jumping events in athletics

Geography- We have been looking closely at a map of Kenya and identifying key places, we used our labelled maps to compare Kenya to England

Maths- We used different manipulatives to create arrays.

PE- Year 2 joined together for PE. We practiced different jumps off of apparatus, everyone was very brave!

Computing- We have been using our programming skills to help our robots get to the portal. Each time the children gave the correct instructions their level and difficulty increased.

Gymnastics - this week we have worked as a whole year group in our gymnastics session to focus on different jumps. We used benches and boxes of different heights to practice jumps using a star, pike, straddle and tuck jumps. Just look at us in action!

Geography- We explored why some countries are hotter than others and used knowledge of the equator and the poles to create a heatmap.

Maths- Continuing with our shape topic we have found lines of symmetry in different 2D shapes and looked at how to organise 2D shapes into groups.

In PE we have been recapping our shapes in gymnastics, the children had lots of fun creating a routine using the shapes and performing them to the class

We had fun writing about what we did during the Christmas holidays! The children were very excited to share.

The sun was shining for us during our PE session with the coach on Monday. We have been working on our dribbling skills in hockey and shapes in gymnastics, which worked our muscles hard!

In science this week we have been looking at keeping our bodies healthy and sorting different foods into categories.

In PE we have been working on our underarm and overarm throwing.

Creating Tudor houses and backgrounds using paint and sponges in our GFOL themed Art lesson.

The children tasted the vegetable soup we made from our vegetables we chopped in DT!

Harvest themed DT lesson. Learning to chop vegetables safely using the bridge method, looking at where food comes from, creating shape poems and harvest posters.

Great Fire of London Al Fresco! Today we used wattle and daub to build walls for houses and created clay bakeries... we got VERY messy!

We have been busy using the Dienes to help us partition numbers to 100 in maths!
