Abbey Primary currently holds the Eco Schools Silver Award! Well done to the Eco Committee for all their hard work last year! As well as the work completed by the Heritage Garden Working Group, EYFS and the Litter Picking Club. We are now aiming for Green Flag Award by the end of 2020.
Our Eco-Committee consists of pupils from year 1 to year 6. They are all eager to help make Abbey Primary school an Eco-friendly school. Each year, pupils across the school fill in job applications to be a part of the committee and the pupils above were selected as a result of their brilliant applications and ideas.
This year the Eco-Committee want to focus on recycling; to make our school a better place. We want to look at how we can improve on how we package our packed lunches that we bring in to school as well as making them full of healthy choices! If we can use less single use plastic such as sandwich bags, cling film and disposable spoons; we will be helping the environment! We also want to focus on how we dispose of our compostable waste. We want to throw our left over fruit and fruit peel into compost bins so we can then use it in our very own garden and around the school site.
More news to follow soon!
Our new action plan for aiming for Green Flag status will be uploaded in the Spring term in January.
