Eco Schools

Abbey Primary currently holds the Eco Schools Bronze Award! Well done to the Eco Committee for all their hard work last year! We are now aiming for Eco Schools Silver Award by the end of the year.

Our Eco-Committee consists of pupils from year 1 to year 6. They are all eager to help make Abbey Primary school an Eco-friendly school. Each year, pupils across the school fill in job applications to be a part of the committee and the pupils above were selected as a result of their brilliant applications and ideas.

This year the Eco-Committee want to focus on recycling; to make our school a better place. We want to look at how we can improve on how we package our packed lunches that we bring in to school as well as making them full of healthy choices! If we can use less single use plastic such as sandwich bags, cling film and disposable spoons; we will be helping the environment! We also want to focus on how we dispose of our compostable waste. We want to throw our left over fruit and fruit peel into compost bins so we can then use it in our very own garden and around the school site.

More news to follow soon!

Action plan

Our action plan will be discussed at the next Eco-committee meeting this term, we will also be reviewing last year's action plan that was written this time last year.
