Year Five Sound Therapy Research Video
Abbey Primary School is undertaking an academic research project alongside Nottinghamshire County Council, which is being supported by Nottingham Trent University’s Institute of Education and the Minster Teaching School Alliance. We are working closely with Julia Frier, who is a nationally renowned Sound Vibrational Alchemist, and who is the only accredited Gong Master in the Midlands.
Sound Therapy sessions involve exposing children to a variety of mindfulness approaches, encouraging them to listen to and connect with their bodies, calm their minds and provide them with strategies for recognising and dealing with various emotions. Sound immersion is used to calm, rebalance and recalibrate the children, encouraging them to relax and be still; focusing on the present moment.
We are attempting to film a short documentary (which will be filmed by Nottinghamshire County Council). The documentary will be used purely for research purposes, to capture the impact of the Sound Therapy Sessions. More information can be found on the following video clip, recorded by Abbey Primary School, Notts County Council and Julia Frier.
