Reading At Home

The book-banded reading books that pupils take home are carefully matched to their ability so they are able to read them with a high degree of fluency. This allows pupils to focus on and practise the important skills of comprehension that have been taught in school. From the EYFS to Year Six, a book mark, containing specific examples of how to develop each skill, through discussion, is provided to pupils as they enter each year group.

Pupil reading diaries provide a means by which parents can contribute to their child’s reading journey. A requirement of at least five, weekly reads forms part of the allocated homework for all pupils.
