Some of our amazing stone age tools!
Year 3 enjoyed an exciting visit to the archaeological park, Creswell Crags. The autumn weather added to the atmosphere as the children eagerly shared what they had learned from their history topic on 'The Stone Age'. Working together, they built Mesolithic-style shelters and discovered traditional fire-lighting techniques. The spear-throwing session proved a particular highlight, giving everyone the chance to test out their hunting skills. Inside one of the Ice Age caves, the children found out how flint was shaped into tools and experienced total darkness, just as people from the past would have done. Later, they impressed our guide with their knowledge of rocks and enjoyed sorting different examples of sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic types. It was a memorable day for all, and the children were a credit to the school throughout.
