PE Dance. Our dance lessons this half term we’re inspired by the Roman Army. By creating dance moves inspired by Roman battle formations and warfare tactics, the children successfully sequenced a variety of moves, and many thanks to Coach Clare who worked with the children.
Internet Safety Day
Values-Resilience. The children were able to reflect on their roadmaps to check they had achieved their set goals. Some great discussions were held by the class who shared their experiences of facing setbacks and overcoming challenges. There were lots of smiles and a real sense of achievement as we celebrated our awards.
Geography. Children had so much fun exploring their local area on Google Earth. They were able to analyse features on the landscape when examining a variety of maps by comparing Mansfield to Derbyshire.by analys

Starry Night. The children love singing this Christmas classic and they sound absolutely lovely,
Creswell Crags Trip. Year 3 we’re so lucky to be able to step back in time and visit Britain’s famous prehistoric landmark. We all had an amazing day. The children were able to experience playing musical instruments in caves, building Mesolithic houses and being palaeontologists by building the skeletal structure of prehistoric animals.
History. On Monday, Year 3 carried out an archaeological excavation on the school field.
Art. Year 3 created their own versions of cave paintings by using oil pastels. The children used the Lascaux cave paintings discovered in France as their inspiration.
Design and Technology. The children made delicious peach pies, inspired by our class text James and the Giant Peach.
Black History Month. As part of our Black History Month learning, Year 3 researched musicians of black heritage. Children researched greats such as Beyoncé, Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley. While researching the children enjoyed listening to classics hits such as Superstition, Respect and The Best.
PSHE. Values Celebration afternoon. Using plasticine, the children created models of themselves showing acts or respect towards others. Our afternoon finished with the children celebrating earning their first Values stickers.
Design and Technology. The children have worked really hard this term on designing a bird feeder made from recyclable materials.
Science. To complete our learning about the body, the children worked in groups to place the muscles onto the outline of the body. As you can see, the children really enjoyed this task,
Times Tables Rock Stars!!! Regular practise for the children supports their maths recall skills and is also lots of fun. The children were trying to gain new personal best scores.
Reading. Our year group text is James and the Giant Peach and our children were drawing their predictions of what might happen to James' two aunts.
PSHE. Year 3 were exploring the Value of Respect. Between the class, they collected their top 5 most important aspects of showing respect and created their own 'Tree of Respect'.
Science. Year 3 were excited to start their first topic of the year 'What Holds us Together' by enjoying the fresh air and looking for different types of bugs and insects.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
