We have had so much fun this week exploring new vocabulary with our word of the week absurd!

We have been letting our imaginations run wild for 5 minutes before story at the end of the day by reading the random sentence and thinking of what the ending could be.
In science we have been predicting what will happen to our slices of bread once we have touched them with washed or unwashed hands!
In computing we have been learning how to code, we even made the frog turn into a prince!
We've been learning all about money in maths over the past few weeks, we've had practical lessons and ipad lessons to support our learning.
We have been learning all about Robin Hood this half term and we have created our own booklets full of information including facts about his Merry Men and all about Nottingham.
We carefully made our own hats so that we could get into role. Then we acted out scenes from Robin Hood playing the parts of the main characters.

We all loved our trip to Nottingham to watch the Chrsitmas pantomime, Chloe was even chosen to go on stage and answer some questions! Well done Chloe! You did Abbey proud!
Today we were learning about how the differernt countries around the world celebrate Christmas. We then made a Christmas mobile drawing the different traditions from countries like Japan, Denmark, China and France.

In DT we have made our own dips for our Christmas party. We have prepared all the food in a safe and clean way and made the yummy dips for us all to enjoy!
In RE we looked at the Christian story of Jesus' birth and created a story map to retell the story
In design and technology we have been investigating pop up picture and used this knowledge to make our own pop up card for Christmas.

In science we investigated the different materials we could find around school and worked scientifically to work out 'What material would be best for a water bucket during the Great Fire of London'.
To start our topic 'Great Fire of London' we took part in some drama led by the Partake Company.
During science we wanted to solve the question 'does water make music?' we tried filling the glass jars to different levels to see what pitch they would make.
As a class we enjoyed learning about WW1 so much last week, Miss Fox brought in some medals and cap badges from WW1. She also brought in pictures of her Great Great Grandad!
During ICT this week we created our own bonfire night picture using 2paint on Purple Mash.
Creating our own timeline of events during the Gun Power Plot
WW1 Centenary activities. We learned all about how animals helped in the war. We made a step by step drawing of a horse and split pin moving horses. We also listened to a lovely story called Flo of the Somme. This was all about a dog that helped deliver medical supplies to injured soldiers. We had a great day!
This week we read the story of the Gun Powder Plot. We then split into small groups and acted out the events.

RE Day - we have been learning about Hanukkah, we made potato latkes and they were lovely! We also discussed the differences between Christianity and Judaism, especially how each religion presents Jesus.
