RE - We had a wedding themed day where we came to school dressed for a wedding. We walked to St Alban's church to have a look around and re-enact a wedding. Then back at school we learned some simple barn dances. We had an amazing time!
Science - we have been learning the difference between things that are alive like birds and trees, things that are now dead like wooden tables and dried flowers, and things that have never been alive like plastic lunch boxes and bikes.

Maths - we have been learning how to add and subtract 3 digit numbers including exchanging. We used place value equipment to help us.
Science - we planted sunflower seeds and then measured how tall they had grown after a week.
Geography - we made maps of our journey to school and used different pictures and symbols for the things we pass.

RE- Mr Darlington worked with us this week on the creation story. He taught us that to be able to create something, you first need an idea or the materials to create it.

Science Day - last Wednesday we had a fantastic science day. Look what we got up to!
WORLD BOOK DAY!! We came in to our classroom to find that some toys had done some naughty things and made a bit of a mess! We then read the story 'Naughty Bus' by Jan and Jerry Oke. After this, we explored toys using drama and created some of our own pictures of toys doing naughty things!
Sketching - we carefully looked at pictures of different vehicles in order to sketch them.
Labeling vehicles - we looked at a range of different vehicles and labeled the features we could see.

7th January - Today we have been looking at facts about Robin Hood. Miss Mumby gave us the facts but they were all muddled up so we had to match them up again in order to learn about him
RE - We have learned all about how different countries celebrate Christmas and enjoyed learning about Pere Noel - Father Christmas in France. We made mobiles to show the different Christmas traditions

We tested materials to see how waterproof they were. During the Great Fire of London, people used leather buckets to help try and put out the fire. We wanted to find out if another material was better.
Magnificent materials! Today, Year Two looked at different materials and what they were used to make. We explored why certain materials were used for to make specific things and used vocabulary like: hard, strong, durable, absorbent and flexible. Then we went on a material hunt around school to see which ones had been used for which purpose.

Does water make music? We investigated the pitch of the sound a glass jar makes when we filled them with different levels of water

Computing - we learned to use the fill tool to create a dark background so that we could create a firework picture. Look at our masterpieces!
WW1 Centenary activities. We learned all about how animals helped in the war. We made a step by step drawing of a horse and split pin moving horses. We also listened to a lovely story called Flo of the Somme. This was all about a dog that helped deliver medical supplies to injured soldiers. We had a great day!
